Washington, DC – Stefan Merrill Block, New York Times bestselling author of “Homeschooled”, is joining the Coalition for Responsible Home Education (CRHE) for a live virtual conversation about the homeschool alumni experience, and the impact his work has had on CRHE’s mission, on Thursday, April 30th at 2:00pm ET. Published in January 2026, Homeschooled launched homeschooling practice and policy conversations onto center stage.
“In an era when homeschooling is rapidly expanding, the real, compelling story of a child’s experience was a lightning rod,” says Tess Ulrey, executive director of CRHE. “Stefan’s work sourced new interest in legislation that CRHE advocates for, but as an organization founded and powered by homeschool alumni, our connection to Homeschooled is more than a policy driver – the memoir also validates how profoundly impactful homeschooling is on a child’s experience growing up overall.”
This event is being held on Day of the Homeschooled Child, celebrated by CRHE every April 30th, which serves as a reminder to re-center homeschooling conversations on children and their rights to safety and a good education. The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Once registered, attendees will receive email confirmation and a calendar invitation. Link will be provided 24 hours in advance.

The Coalition for Responsible Home Education, founded in 2013, empowers homeschooled children by educating the public and advocating for child-centered, evidence-based policy and practices for families and professionals. CRHE envisions a future where homeschooled children’s right to a comprehensive and empowering education and to a safe and supportive home environment is affirmed and protected by laws, stakeholders, and society as a whole.
